The grants, made available through the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Community Facilities Grant Program, will be used to help purchase new police vehicles to serve and protect local residents. "We depend on our men and women in uniform to be there in times of crisis, and they depend on us for the support they need to do their jobs," said Stabenow. "This funding will help first responders in Caseville and Harbor Beach perform their duties and protect the public." The Village of Caseville will receive $12,000 and the City of Harbor Beach will receive $13,000 to help replace current vehicles, which are nearing the end of their useful lifespan.
