Barry, a political theory graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz is a Fresno native who came to Washington, D.C. to pursue her interests in defense and veterans’ issues through interning on Capitol Hill. “Due to the timing of my internship, I have spent a considerable amount of time learning about what healthcare reform needs to look like in this country,” said Barry. Her post-internship plans include pursuing a PhD in political theory or international studies. “Each of my office’s interns plays a valuable role in helping us to serve the people of California’s 10th district,” said Rep. Denham. “Washington provides a wonderful learning environment for many young people interested in politics, political theory and service. Taylor was a great asset to our staff.” “I chose to intern with Congressman Denham because he is a man of integrity and I have an immense amount of respect for the work he’s done for veterans,” said Barry. “This experience has taught me so much about just how important it is to remain true to your convictions.
