Johnson fighting foreclosures with 2013 ‘Save the Dream’ event 2013-09-30 2013 2013-09 Democrat House GA Hank Johnson J000288 web.archive.org     legacy Congressman Johnson, CredAbility, DCA are hosting community event to help struggling homeowners LITHONIA, GA – On Saturday, Oct. 5, Congressman Hank Johnson is hosting a community event to help struggling homeowners avoid foreclosure. In conjunction with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs’ HomeSafe Georgia program and certified credit counselors CredAbility, Rep. Johnson is holding the free events to help struggling homeowners.  The event will be held at Salem Bible Church in Lithonia, 5460 Hillandale Drive, Lithonia, GA 30058. Since 2011 more than 700 homeowners in the Fourth District have been approved for HomeSafe resulting in nearly $14 million in relief, more than any other congressional district in Georgia. Rep. Johnson held his first Save the Dream event of 2013 on Saturday, Sept. 28 in Conyers. This is the Congressman’s sixth foreclosure prevention event since 2009. “Our goal is to help more than 18,000 Georgians save the most significant investment they will ever make – their home,” said Rep. Johnson. “The event Saturday is a good place to continue our work helping homeowners who qualify. But more must be done.” HomeSafe is designed to provide temporary assistance to Georgia homeowners who have suffered a substantial income loss due to involuntary unemployment or underemployment and who are able and willing to work. The event will also provide opportunities for homeowners to meet with counselors to see if they are eligible for a loan modification through the federal Making Home Affordable program. To pre-qualify and to register for the Oct. 5 event, participants can call CredAbility at 404-653-8833. WHO:        Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04), DCA, CredAbility, U.S. Treasury.
