Besides active-shooter drills, U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin outlined other steps such as shatter-resistant windows, classroom doors that lock quickly and anti-bullying programs during the two-day KidStrong Conference arranged by the state Department of Education. The recommendations come from a new report drawn from a summit on school safety held in February. The subject has gotten a closer look following the December massacre of 20 first-graders and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
