Allyson Y. Schwartz (PA-13) issued the following statement today after voting against House Republican legislation (H.R. 3350) that allows insurers to sell individual health policies in 2014 that do not meet minimum coverage requirements and consumer protections set by the Affordable Care Act. “The Administration made inexcusable and unacceptable mistakes in launching HealthCare.gov and by failing to keep the promise that Americans could keep their existing insurance plans. But instead of fixing the problem, the House Republican bill guts the law, letting insurers go back to turning away people who are sick, discriminating against those with pre-existing conditions and offering coverage that won’t be sufficient when a medical emergency strikes. “We must take concrete action to hold insurance companies, states and the Administration accountable to ensure that Americans have access to quality, affordable health care. I’m calling on the Administration to require insurers to provide full disclosure of what their products cost, the benefits they provide and other options available to their subscribers. I am committed to fixing and strengthening the law so that all Pennsylvanians have access to meaningful, affordable coverage options and the information they need to make the right decisions for their families.” ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
