Tulsi Gabbard Comments on Drowning Victim and UH Warrior Willis Wilson Honolulu, HI — Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (HI-02) released the following statement after learning that University of Hawaiʻi student-athlete Willis Wilson drowned at Sandy Beach on the south shore of Oʻahu around 4:30 a.m. this morning. He was 21 years old and from Lakewood, Washington. His father also played football for the University of Hawaiʻi. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard commented on the tragedy, "I was deeply saddened to learn the devastating news that Willis Wilson, one of the Warriors' running backs, had drowned earlier this morning. I can't imagine the shock, pain, and sadness that his family, his team, and the UH ohana is feeling right now, but I pray the Wilsons and his extended family can find some peace and strength through this difficult time. I know Willis' teammates will be playing for him tonight, as all of Hawai'i remembers him." | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
