Stanton, Gallup, Carlsbad, and Angel Fire are the first four communities being recommended to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs for cemeteries,” said Pearce. “The state’s efforts thus far have been in response to calls throughout New Mexico for increased access to cemeteries to further honor our veterans. New Mexico has a long, proud history of military service, I look forward to continuing to work with the state and the VA to ensure New Mexico has the facilities to eternally honor our nation's bravest.” The Department of Veterans’ Affairs will announce later this summer a full list of locations selected for the creation of cemeteries.
