https://web.archive.org/web/20140427132252/http://rothfus.house.gov/index.cfm?sectionid=25&itemid=628 House Passes Bipartisan Budget Agreement 2013-12-12 2013 2013-12 Republican House PA Keith Rothfus R000598 web.archive.org     legacy Washington, D.C. – Congressman Keith Rothfus [PA-12] released the following statement after voting for H.J.Res. 59, the Bipartisan Budget Act: “This agreement is nowhere near perfect.  Nobody got all they wanted with this budget,” said Rothfus.  “That is the result of a functioning divided government designed with checks and balances.  “The agreement swaps modest but permanent reforms to mandatory spending for temporary and partial relief from the arbitrary sequester cuts.  In so doing it will reduce the deficit without raising taxes, and provide for a stronger national defense.  It also includes several provisions to tackle fraud and waste. “This bill also protects seniors’ ability to see their doctors by blocking a dramatic reduction in the Medicare reimbursement rate scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2014.” “Much more needs to be done to rein in big government and address our fiscal challenges in ways that reduce spending, ensure that critical social service programs are solvent for those who need them, and increase job opportunities, wages, and salaries for workers.” The Bipartisan Budget Agreement passed in the House of Representatives by a bipartisan 332-94 vote.  Additional Resources: Spending Cuts Included FAQ About the Bipartisan Budget Agreement Summary from the House Budget Committee 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
