This morning the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health held a hearing entitled, “Medicare Advantage: What Beneficiaries Should Expect Under the President’s Health Care Law.”  Congressman Joe Pitts [PA-16] noted that, “[…] there are several existing reform proposals for Medicare Advantage that merit further discussion and feedback.  Concepts like […] bipartisan policies such as those introduced by Representative Keith Rothfus of Pennsylvania that would restore choices for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries and not limit their options to traditional FFS (fee for service) or their existing plans.”  Congressman Pitts is the Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health. Congressman Michael Burgess [TX-26] noted during the hearing that restoring the Medicare Advantage open enrollment period, which has been previously proposed, was a “reasonable suggestion” that he thought the Committee could support.  Congressman Burgess is the Vice Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health.
