He was a cosponsor of two bills and supported all six. Human trafficking continues to affect more than 20 million victims worldwide, including hundreds of children and adults in New Mexico. "Now is the time to aggressively shine the light on the horrific epidemic of human and sex trafficking that affects so many children and adults in New Mexico, and across the United States," said Congressman Steve Pearce. "These bills will begin to bring justice to victims of trafficking, stop exploitation, provide much-needed resources to victims of these crimes, prevent the demand for sex trafficking, raise awareness, and provide many other immediate ways to address the issue." The Department of Justice estimates that as many as 100,000-300,000 children are at risk of being trafficked for commercial sex in the U.S. each year. Pearce and his staff have held community round table discussions about human trafficking in Anthony and Las Cruces.
