This bill responsibly funds and ensures the construction of several water resource projects across the country, including key dams and levees in New Mexico, to help prevent flooding on the Rio Grande. It will also make cuts in wasteful, outdated projects. "Today's legislation is critical for New Mexico and for the nation," said Congressman Steve Pearce. "Proactive management of our dams along the Rio Grande is vital to our projects across the nation, while also cutting $18 billion in old, inactive projects. The bill makes major reforms to increase transparancy, accountability and Congressional oversight in reviewing and prioritizing future water resource projects."
