| https://web.archive.org/web/20140919001528/http://reed.house.gov/press-release/reed-no-labels-launch-national-strategic-agenda | REED, NO LABELS TO LAUNCH NATIONAL STRATEGIC AGENDA | 2014-09-15 | 2014 | 2014-09 | Republican | House | NY | Tom Reed | R000585 | web.archive.org | legacy | Tom Reed will meet this week with more than 200 business leaders, state and local officials, citizens and dozens of No Labels Problem Solvers to lay out a National Strategic Agenda for the country. The group will come together in Washington to give input on the nation’s uniting issues and launch a four point National Strategic Agenda. “The issues that unite us are far greater than those that divide us and we’re proud to join with No Labels as part of our effort to highlight those uniting issues,” Reed said. “I care about the big issues we face as a country and recognize the need to agree on big goals. No Labels is one of the vehicles that will get leaders from both sides of the aisle to the table to start the conversation. Coming together with so many others who care and are interested in the process, I’m optimistic we can get a strong coalition of problem solvers to the table.” The group is set to launch a “National Strategic Agenda” – four foundational principles both sides of the aisle have shown broad support for. The agenda calls for the country to: grow 25 million new jobs over the next ten years; secure Medicare and Social Security for at least 75 years; balance the federal budget by 2030; and make America energy secure by 2024. “We came to Washington to change the culture, that’s why we’re part of groups like No Labels and the Go Big Coalition – to find common ground,” Reed continued. “I want to act, I want to see results – that’s why I’m at the table, ready to talk about what common themes we can unite around. We will sit down with anyone willing to talk and committed to finding solutions.” Reed pointed to successful areas of the House, Senate and White House coming together to enact pieces of significant legislation including the Farm Bill, Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act and the Ryan-Murray Budget and said more can always be done. “We can always do more to be a voice for coming together,” Reed said. “There are real philosophical differences in Washington and across our country but we can always work with others, build trust and build respect. At the end of the day, we all have the same goal: to improve this great country for our children and grandchildren.” Reed joined as a No Labels Problem Solver in spring 2013 and pushed with the bipartisan group to successfully get the “No Budget, No Pay” legislation signed into law. Reed is also leading on another No Labels initiative, “Make Government Work,” and introduced a bill with Rep. Kurt Schrader (D-OR), “No Adding, No Padding,” to stop assuming automatic year-to-year spending increases. ##### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
