We are also working to claw back bonuses fraudulently paid to VA employees who manipulated wait times data. Helman has been paid over $70,000 since being placed on administrative leave. This is a completely unacceptable use of taxpayer dollars that should instead go to providing care for veterans. “We need a VA that meets the needs of veterans and holds managers accountable when it does not. If it takes this long to fire someone like Helman, who oversaw the delays and poor treatment of veterans at the Phoenix VA, then we need to change the system. I will continue to work with members on both sides of the aisle and with Arizona veterans to change the VA's management and accountability system to put veterans first.”   ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
