Bacon will be based in the Bellevue area as an advisor on military issues and constituent outreach. “I am pleased to welcome Brigadier General Bacon to my staff,” Fortenberry said. “Don has an extensive knowledge of military issues and will be an asset to my staff. I know Don and his family are glad to be home in Nebraska.” Bacon served 29 years in the Air Force. He had four assignments in the 55th Wing, headquartered at Offutt Air Force Base, and one assignment to Strategic Air Command, now known as United States Strategic Command. Bacon served as the 55th Wing Commander at Offutt Air Force Base and was most recently assigned to the Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon in the Intelligence Directorate.
