This is an unprecedented epidemic and the first response needs to build confidence. This is not a political issue, it’s a public safety issue. This policy should allow for the necessary medical equipment and personnel to be moved into place to fight the virus and respond to any other significant humanitarian concerns.” “On another note, I just finished a conversation with Raj Shah, Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development, who just returned from Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea. They are on the ground primarily in Liberia fighting Ebola. In a bit of good news, Dr. Shah informs me that the exponential rate of growth of the disease is slowing through isolation and infection control at its source. Basic interventions such as rapid burial of the dead are beginning to contain the growth of the disease.” Fortenberry is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
