The inability of VA employees to report concerns without retaliatory action from the hospital is also completely unacceptable. “The culture at the VA must change and a new standard of care must be set. I have asked for specific steps from the VA to correct the issues raised by The Joint Commission within 120 days. “Those responsible for putting veterans at risk should be held accountable, and the Phoenix VA managers responsible for this reprehensible behavior should be fired and should return pay and bonuses immediately. “I will continue to work with members on both sides of the aisle, with the VA and with Arizona veterans to change the VA's management and accountability system to put veterans first.” In response to The Joint Commission’s findings, Congresswoman Sinema sent a letter calling on the VA to provide a plan to achieve compliance within 120 days (full text below. ### Letter to Sec McDonald RE.
