Schock was guided on a tour of campus facilities by some of the academy cadets he has nominated during his nearly six years serving in the United States Congress. As part of his oversight efforts, Schock joined classroom laboratories and participated in various training exercises with cadets, including a simulated ejection from combat aircraft in a war zone. Additionally, he was briefed by senior academy instructors and administration officials, including Lt. General Michelle Johnson, the 19th Superintendent of the U.S. Air Force Academy. (Pictured R-L are Cadets Jesse Quandt; Molly Gilroy; Lucas Brown; Rep. Aaron Schock; Cadets James Eason; Turner Holcombe; and Theodore Lingle) “It is clear that the United States Air Force Academy places value on the character of these cadets, and it is inspiring to see these active men and women motivated to lead in service to our nation. The 18th District of Illinois and I are proud to be represented by these outstanding cadets and thankful for their service and sacrifices.” This was Rep. Schock’s first official visit to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Last month, Congressman Schock visited the United States Military Academy at West Point, the oldest of the nation’s continuously operating army posts.
