Region 1 is one of 12 regional representatives, and the position represents members from Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. "I am honored to again be elected by my peers to serve on the Steering Committee. This post will allow me to ensure that committee chairs as well as House Republican leaders understand key issues that affect Western states. Congressional Republicans have a great opportunity to govern responsibly, demonstrate effective leadership, and provide meaningful solutions to the challenges facing the nation during the 114th Congress and I look forward to contributing to that work as a member of the Steering Committee." In the 112th Congress (2011-12) Rep. Heck served as one of three representatives to the Steering Committee from the class of 2010. In the 113th Congress (2013-14) he was the only representative to the Steering Committee from the class of 2010. The Steering Committee has jurisdiction over assigning standing committee chairmanships as well as committee assignments for all members.  The regional representatives work in conjunction with House Leadership, several key committee chairs, and two class representatives. ### Congressman Joe Heck represents Nevada's Third Congressional District in the House of Representatives. He serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and the House Committee on Education and the Workforce. 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
