(AZ-04) released the following statement after spearheading a letter calling on House leadership to take action and stop President Obama’s recent executive order which granted amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants: “Following President Obama’s sweeping and unconstitutional executive order, the American people want to know what their elected Representatives are going to do to rein in this abuse of power. It is important that we clearly communicate our complete and absolute rejection of the president’s illegal actions and layout our plan of how the Constitution grants Congress the ability to reign in this executive overreach. Our constituents want to know what we are going to do, so several members in the House and I developed three action items that we call on House leadership to take as soon as possible. “First, the House should immediately pass a short-term spending bill that defunds the entirety of President Obama’s executive order. Second, our body should pass H.Res.757 which would authorize the House to sue the President for any actions in violation of the Constitution in regards to immigration enforcement. Finally, the House must prohibit any funds from being used to provide work permits or green cards to illegal immigrants who are unlawfully living in the United States. “This is an important moment where the House can demonstrate how the power of the Constitution trumps the rogue actions of a lawless president. There is just too much at risk for this executive amnesty to go unchallenged.” Background: The full text of the letter sent to House leadership can be found HERE. NumbersUSA, one of the nation's largest immigration enforcement advocacy groups with more than two million members, has endorsed Congressman Gosar's letter. The other original cosigners are Reps. Mo Brooks (AL-05), Ted Poe (TX-02), Cynthia Lummis (WY-AL), Bill Posey (FL-08), Steve Stockman (TX-36) and Paul Broun (GA-10). H.Res.757 is similar to House-passed resolution H.Res.676 and litigation filed last week by the House against President Obama’s unilateral actions on healthcare. On November 13th, 63 members of the House, including Rep. Gosar, sent a letter to the House Appropriations Committee requesting the House prohibit any funds to be used for work permits or green cards for illegal immigrants. This letter was led by Rep.
