Ed Whitfield (KY-01), Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Energy and Power welcomed David “Pete” Morgan to serve in his Washington, D.C. office this fall. Morgan, a resident of the greater Washington area, has served in the office since early September as part of an internship experience aimed at providing a multifaceted look at the legislative process and a first-hand understanding of how Congress works. He will graduate from Trinity College in December where he is majoring in Economics. Morgan is the son of David and Nancy Morgan. “I am grateful for this opportunity to work alongside and for such a distinguished representative of Congress,” Morgan said. “This has been a once in a lifetime experience and I feel very fortunate to have been able to see how our government operates on a day-to-day basis.” Whitfield hosts interns throughout the year in his Washington, D.C. office. Participants have the opportunity to attend legislative hearings and briefings, assist staff with research for the Congressman, and take on a number of administrative projects. “I commend these young leaders of tomorrow for taking the time and making personal sacrifices in order to gain a better understanding of our government,” Whitfield said. “I hope the experience provides them with an educational and cultural understanding that will be of great benefit to their future and am certainly proud to have them as a part of our dedicated team here in Washington.” To learn more about interning in Congressman Whitfield’s Washington, D.C. office, visit his website at http://whitfield.house.gov/services/internships.
