Our men and women in uniform are willing to put themselves in harm's way to keep our nation safe; we owe it to them to provide the tools and resources necessary to carry out their missions and keep them safe. This year's bipartisan NDAA accomplishes these goals, and I am pleased to support its passage. I am honored to have been selected to serve on the NDAA conference committee and am pleased to note that two of my amendments are included in the final bill, which will help us address vulnerabilities in our critical supply chains. I thank Ranking Member Mac Thornberry for his years of leadership on the House Armed Services Committee and his dedication to our servicemembers and their families, as well as for being a key mentor to me during my first years in Congress. Highlights in the NDAA: H.R. 6395, the William M. (Mac) Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021: The FY21 NDAA provides $731.6B for national defense discretionary programs. Provides our troops a 3% pay raise and supports their families with the pay and benefits they deserve. Authorizes a Pacific Deterrence Initiative and provides $2.2B as the basis of the Initiative. Provides DOD with the resources necessary to address COVID-19, including PPE, testing capabilities, and diagnostic testing.
