Our veterans sacrificed so much to ensure we could live in freedom and as a nation, we must take care of them. These bills focus on healthcare and a few other issues that impact veterans and those currently serving in uniform. A complete rundown of the bills passed Tuesday include (all descriptions courtesy of the House Republican Conference): H.R. 6394, the Improving Broadband Access for Veterans Act: “Requires the Federal Communications Commission to submit to Congress a report on promoting broadband Internet access service for veterans.” H.R. 6416, the Jeff Miller and Richard Blumenthal Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act: “Makes a number of improvements to VA disability compensation, appeals, burial, education, vocational rehabilitation, small business, health care, and homeless programs.” H.R. 5399, the Ethical Patient Care for Veterans Act: “Directs the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to ensure that each VA physician is informed of the duty to report any ‘covered’ or unethical health care activity committed by another physician that the physician witnesses or otherwise discovers to the applicable state licensing authority within five days of occurrence.” H.R. 4150, the Department of Veterans Affairs Emergency Medical Staffing Recruitment and Retention Act: “Authorizes the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), upon written request, to modify the hours of employment for a full-time VA physician to be more than or less than 80 hours in a biweekly pay period if the total of such employee’s hours of employment in a calendar year does not exceed 2,080 hours (through work and/or use of leave/paid time off).” H.R. 4352, the Faster Care for Veterans Act: “Directs the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to establish a pilot program for veterans to self-schedule medical appointments online, in at least three Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs).” H.R. 5428, the Military Residency Choice Act: “Amends the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act to permit the spouse of a servicemember to claim the same state of residence as the servicemember for taxation and voting purposes, even if the spouse has not previously lived in that state.” S. 3076, the Charles Duncan Buried with Honor Act of 2016: “Authorizes the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide a casket or urn for a deceased veteran to be buried in a national veterans’ cemetery, state veterans’ cemetery, or tribal cemetery, if the deceased veteran does not have sufficient resources to cover to cost.” | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
