Bruce Westerman (R-Ark.) hosted a virtual reception announcing the winners of the Congressional App Challenge. Westerman issued the following statement: "Each year, I look forward to the annual Congressional App Challenge as a showcase of the incredible talent and creativity of the Fourth District's students," said Congressman Westerman. "This year's Challenge did not disappoint! Each app was an impressive display of ingenuity and I am confident that these students have bright futures ahead as they work to make their communities a better place. The Congressional App Challenge is an annual event in which middle and high school students across the country design and code their own original apps. The winning team from each congressional district is normally honored at an event in Washington, D.C., where they present their apps to attendees. This year, the Fourth District received 20 submissions from 50 students, and the winners were announced yesterday evening during a virtual event held on Zoom, due to COVID-19 restrictions The winners were chosen by a panel of 5 judges. The 2021 Fourth District top five teams are: First Place: Anna Womack and MacKenzie Bisswanger, from Harmony Grove High School, with their app, "Do Gooders." Second Place (tie): Landon Weaver, Carson Ford, and Seth Harper, from Dardanelle High School, with their app, "Helping Hands." Second Place (tie): Bao Pham and Thanh Tran, from Hot Springs Junior Academy, with her app, "HSSD Student HQ." Third Place: Lizbeth Flores-Fuentes, Leslie Mendez, and Dulce Gomez, from Dardanelle High School, with their app, "Munch Up." Fourth Place (tie): Gabriel Avila, Madyson Johnson, and Seth Felux, from Dardanelle High School, with their app, "TherAppy." Fourth Place (tie): Marcela Sierra, Nadia Alonso, and Anna Carranza, from Dardanelle High School, with their app, "Keeping Up."
