We are providing Wisconsin farmers with the tools they need to thrive for years to come. Now it is time for the Senate to finish the job and get this to President Trump’s desk.” Background: Since the first farm bill was passed in 1933, it has been an essential driver of American agriculture. Much has changed since the first bill was passed, with science, technology, and innovation allowing our country to produce the safest, most abundant, and most affordable food supply in the world. The new challenges and opportunities our producers face require new policy, and the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 rises to meet the occasion. This bill builds on the historic ag investments made last summer in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The last Farm Bill was passed in 2018. Although it was intended to cover only a 5-year period, Congress failed to bring the new bill to the floor in 2024, leaving American farmers with uncertainty and subject to outdated policies. Today, the House approved the bill and sent it to the Senate for final passage.
