I believe healthcare is a right, not a privilege, and we must make improving our health care system a priority in the 116th Congress. H. Res 1031 was introduced by Rep. Jacky Rosen (D-NV 3rd District) and comes on the heels of a Texas court challenge this fall, in which 20 Republican Attorneys General aimed to explicitly undo protections for people with pre-existing conditions by suing to strike down the entire law. This attempt adds to recent actions by the Republican-led Congress to sabotage the Affordable Care Act; voting last year to repeal the individual mandate and proposing changes to the healthcare law that would slap an age tax on elderly Americans and raise premiums. H. Res 1031 was introduced in hopes to curb attacks of this nature and ensure that key protections of the Affordable Care Act are kept in place.
