Wilson issued the following statement in response to the injunction placed on the Obama Administration's Overtime Regulation: On behalf of the millions of hardworking Americans who would have benefitted from the Obama administration's regulation that would have raised the salary limit below which workers would automatically qualify for overtime pay, I was extremely disappointed to learn of Judge Amos L. Mazzant's decision to issue an injunction to prevent it from going into effect next week. The regulation would have raised the annual salary limit from $23,660 to $47,476 and ensured that millions of mothers and fathers who must work long hours each week are at least able to increase their families' economic security. As the representative of a severely economically depressed district with some the highest rates of income inequality in the nation, I strongly supported this long overdue update to overtime protections. It is both unfair and cruel to deny workers earning $23,660, which is below the poverty line for a family of four, what is essentially a fair day's pay for a fair day's work.
