I hope my Republican colleagues will join me in calling on the Trump Administration to step up to the plate and be here for Wisconsin communities left in the lurch. I fully support Governor Evers' appeal for the Trump Administration to reconsider their decision and prioritize our local communities.” President Trump and FEMA denied Governor Evers’ request for Public Assistance to help support emergency work and the repair or replacement of disaster-damaged facilities in Door, Grant, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington, and Waukesha counties. A Public Assistance declaration would give state, local and tribal governments access to grants to help cover their costs for debris removal, life-saving emergency protective measures, and restoring public infrastructure. Senator Baldwin pushed the Trump Administration to act and get Wisconsin the federal resources communities need to recover. She led a bipartisan group of colleagues calling on the Trump Administration and FEMA to support Wisconsin’s request to assist in conducting a formal federal preliminary damage assessment.
