At the World Dairy Expo, Senator Baldwin met with leaders of the Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative and the Dairy Business Association to discuss the Senator’s work as Chair of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture to ensure farmers, producers, ranchers, and food businesses have the resources they need to thrive, through risk management tools, market access support, and rural economic development. Senator Baldwin underscored the ongoing investments she has secured for the Made in Wisconsin agriculture community through the Dairy Business Innovation Initiative, including the partnership between the United States Department of Agriculture, the Wisconsin Cheesemakers, and the Center for Dairy Research to advance the innovative ideas of dairy entrepreneurs across the Badger State. In Portage, Senator Baldwin joined Portage Mayor Mitchel Craig, Portage Fire Chief Troy Haase, and city leadership to highlight the $325,000 federal investment from the Baldwin-supported ARPA to help purchase a new aerial fire truck for the Portage Fire Department to help keep Portage residents safe. Portage is also receiving $100,000 in ARPA funds to establish a lead pipe replacement program to help homeowners replace lead laterals and keep families healthy for generations to come. This funding in clean water comes alongside an additional $142.7 million investment in safe drinking water and clean water infrastructure that Wisconsin will see this year from the Baldwin-supported Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
