U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin successfully secured nearly $20 million in U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) grant funding for a Brown County highway project that will improve local transportation efficiency and access for Wisconsin residents and families. The federal grant is being provided through DOT's Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant Program that will fund improvements and upgrades on Wisconsin Highway 29. The State Trunk Highway 29-County Highway VV Interchange Project will replace County Highway VV with a new interchange on Wisconsin Highway 29 that will include sidewalks, bicycle lanes and roundabouts near its ramp terminals and nearby intersections. This project will improve transportation network efficiency and economic growth throughout Brown County. It will enhance mobility for families as well as goods, and expand access to broadband. I strongly support transportation and economic development projects that strengthen Wisconsin communities, said Senator Baldwin. I worked to secure federal funding for this project to support economic development in Brown County and enhance transportation accessibility and mobility for Wisconsin residents and families. Senator Baldwin's efforts are greatly appreciated in helping maintain Brown County as one of the fastest growing economies in the state, said Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Baldwin has supported strong funding for DOT programs that prioritize transportation investments and upgrades, including the BUILD program. The BUILD Grant Program funds projects that support the revitalization of roads, bridges, transit, rail, ports and intermodal transportation throughout the country.
