As the home to the highly skilled men and women of the 139th Airlift Wing, Rosecrans Air National Guard Base is an ideal host for the next Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, saidBlunt. Every year, the region's well-respected medical and nursing schools produce thousands of health care professionals who are eager to serve. I hope the U.S. Air Force will consider all the benefits Rosecrans brings to the table as the basing process continues. Senator Hawley said,It's encouraging that the Air Force will continue to consider the Air National Guard base at St. Joseph for the new Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron.Already home to the 139th Airlift Wing, the citizen-airmen and women there enjoy tremendous support from the local St. Joseph community. I can think of no better location for this important capability. Today's announcement is great news. Whether it be its central location, primary aircraft inventory or stellar mission crews, Rosecrans Air National Guard Base is well-positioned to host this unit. I'm thrilled they've made it through the first round and I know the impeccable credentials of the 139th Airlift Wing make it incredibly competitive to secure this squadron, said Graves. In August 2019, Blunt, Hawley, and Graves sent a letter to the Acting Secretary of the Air Force expressing their support for locating the squadron in St. Joseph. Today's decision is just the first round of potential bases.
