Despite years of pressure, the Department of Defense has failed to pass seven consecutive annual audits. Though incremental improvements have been made, far more must be done to comprehensively reduce financial waste and mismanagement across the Department. “Put plainly, sweeping increases in funding for Pentagon programs without proper oversight must be checked – particularly when severe cuts are on the table for vitally important non-defense programs that help the American people here at home who are struggling, from investments in our schools to health care and housing. “Unacceptable provisions in this bill strip military families of the right to get their kids the health care they need.
