Booker B001288 www.booker.senate.gov booker https://www.booker.senate.gov/news/press scraper NEWARK, N.J. — Today, U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-N.J.) visited the Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center in Annandale, New Jersey. During the visit, Senator Booker toured the facility and highlighted his ongoing efforts to secure federal funding for the training center in order to enhance vital fire safety training for first responders. The facility will also directly improve safety within Hunterdon County by providing back-up countywide 911 services. The funding, pending Congressional passage of the FY24 federal budget, is for $3.192 million and will support the next phase of the Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center’s expansion. "The Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center plays an essential role in equipping our dedicated firefighters and emergency personnel with the skills they need to respond effectively to crises and keep our communities safe,” said Senator Booker. “I am working to secure vital funding for the Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center so we can bolster the capabilities of our first responders and enhance public safety for all residents in Hunterdon County." “We appreciate Senator Booker taking the time to visit the Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center and for his ongoing support for federal funding toward this important public safety project,” said Hunterdon County Commissioner Deputy Director Jeff Kuhl. “Hunterdon County’s Emergency Services Training Center provides numerous lifesaving training courses for not only local volunteer fire departments and EMS squads, but also for the surrounding region. Our first responders are deserving of a modern facility that helps to meet today’s training needs and we appreciate Senator Booker coming to see that firsthand.” Today’s visit to the Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center was part of Booker’s 2023 Jersey Summer Road Trip, a series of stops highlighting New Jersey’s 21 counties. The road trip will focus on Booker’s efforts to secure congressionally directed funding for critical projects in the state; his legislative priorities, including his work to address the opioid epidemic, counter the scourge of gun violence, and serve New Jersey veterans; and his support of local businesses and organizations. 1 2026-03-30T01:40:41Z 2026-04-08T00:30:18Z
