Cory Booker (D-NJ) issued the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Tony Coscia, a New Jerseyan, to serve another term on the Amtrak Board of Directors. Booker is a member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, which oversees passenger rail, including Amtrak. Booker is also the highest-ranking Democrat on the Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety, and Security, the panel responsible for overseeing Amtrak. I am extremely pleased the Senate has voted to confirm Tony Coscia to another term on the Amtrak Board of Directors. Amtrak has been well-served by Tonys leadership and will continue to be as it embarks on the Gateway project alongside state and federal partners. Countless New Jerseyans depend on safe, reliable, and efficient Amtrak service each year. Its good to have a New Jerseyan serving in this critical role, particularly one with such deep qualifications and expertise. In 2010, Tony Coscia was confirmed to serve on the Amtrak board for a five year term expiring in 2015. He was elected chairman of the Amtrak board in 2013. He previously served as Chairman of the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey and is currently a partner at the New Jersey law firm Windels, Marx.
