https://www.brown.senate.gov/newsroom/press/release/brown-announces-28-million-for-berkshire-local-school-district- Brown Announces $28 Million for Berkshire Local School District 2018-12-12 2018 2018-12 Democrat House OH Sherrod Brown B000944 www.brown.senate.gov     legacy Funds will go Toward Constructing New K-12 Learning Facility Wednesday, December 12, 2018 WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program has awarded a $28,000,000 loan to the Berkshire Local School District to construct a new 168,000 square foot school for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. This project was made possible through a collaboration between USDA and the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC). Access to state-of-the art education facilities is important for Ohio families, teachers and communities, Brown said. The new school is an investment in the Berkshire community and an investment in the futures of its students. The new building will feature career tech spaces for diesel mechanics and nursing education, and a 650-seat auditorium. It will be co-located with Kent State University's Geauga and Regional Academic Center in Burton. The USDA's Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program provides affordable funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas. The funding helps rural small towns, cities and communities make infrastructure improvements and provide essential facilities such as schools, libraries, courthouses, public safety facilities, hospitals, colleges and day care centers. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
