Sherrod Brown (D-OH) issued the following statement after the President went back on his word and irresponsibly reversed his support for a government funding measure that would keep the government open until February. Earlier this week, the White House indicated it would support a short-term spending measure to fund the government. On Wednesday, the Senate unanimously passed that clean funding measure, which Brown supported. President Trump then abruptly changed course, withdrew his support for the measure and now puts government funding in jeopardy. Earlier this month, President Trump said he would be proud' to shut down the government. While the Senate did its job and unanimously passed a bill to keep the government open, President Trump instead chose to throw a temper tantrum, said Brown.
