Adding yet another bipartisan achievement to the list of Senate accomplishments in 2015, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today commended the Senates passage of the bipartisan Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act chemical safety legislation that updates the 40-year-old Toxic Substances Control Act. As a member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, Senator Capito co-sponsored this legislation and voted to pass it out of the committee earlier this year. The Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act provides needed reforms to our nations outdated chemical safety law. This bipartisan legislation will protect our families while providing a consistent regulatory framework, said Senator Capito. I am glad the final bill contains language I supported in the EPW Committee to make sure that storage near significant sources of drinking water is a criteria for EPA to account for in deciding which chemicals to review.
