Today U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) announced $4,822,817 in funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation to repair federal roads in Pocahontas, Randolph and Greenbrier counties damaged during the 2016 floods. "Many parts of West Virginia continue to feel the impact of the devastating floods that occurred in June 2016,"Senator Capito said. "I have worked diligently at the federal level to ensure our communities have the resources they need to recover and restore a sense of normalcy. This funding will help repair damage to roads that West Virginians rely on to get to work and provide for their families. The 2016 floods brought devastation to West Virginia, but we as a state came together and have been resilient to return our communities to a place of growth and hope, Senator Manchin said. The repairs to these highways will bring back necessary community connections and allow commerce to flow freely across West Virginia so that our state may continue to improve its economy, rebuild our communities, and look to an even brighter future.
