Nominees were selected by a board chosen by Senator Capito who reviewed each application, interviewed candidates, and made recommendations. “As a U.S. Senator, I have the honor of nominating bright and motivated West Virginians for admission to our nation’s premier service academies. This important responsibility is one I look forward to every year because I am so proud of the young people we have here in West Virginia. This year, I was honored to nominate 30 outstanding high school seniors from across the state to the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S Merchant Marine Academy.
