U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) today hosted her second West Virginia Girls Rise Up event this month. Todays visit included a stop at Sistersville Elementary School in Tyler County, Senator Capitos 16th Girls Rise Up event since launching the program in 2015the same year she was sworn in as the first female U.S. senator for West Virginia. During the visit, Senator Capito met with fourth and fifth grade girls to help inspire and empower the next generation of female leaders in West Virginia. As the first female U.S. Senator from West Virginia, I want to inspire and encourage young girls in our state to work toward their goals and achieve their dreams. After spending time with this great group of fourth and fifth grade girls at Sistersville Elementary, it is clear to me that they are well on their way to accomplishing so much, Senator Capito said. Since launching this program, its been my hope that Girls Rise Up will inspire our next generation of female leaders, and Im confident each of the young girls at Sistersville will achieve success, and most importantly, build each other up each and every day. Senator Capito launched the West Virginia Girls Rise Up mentoring program in 2015 to instill confidence in young West Virginia women and empower them to be strong, confident, and kind female leaders. Todays visits marks the 16th Girls Rise Up event Senator Capito has hosted since launching the program.
