The state will receive $25 million for widening I-12 and $16.2 million for transportation improvements for Port Fourchon. Cassidywrote to U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao in Julyin support ofboth grant applications. These resources will go toward critical infrastructure projects in Louisiana that will create jobs and support economic growth. During our phone call this morning I gave a big thank you to Secretary Chao for listening to our needs and approving these resources. In August,Secretary Chao joined Cassidy in New Orleansto formally mark the award of $45 million in federal funds for the Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel Replacement project. During the visit Secretary Chao also announced a $2.5 million award for the Port of New Orleans to support the current container-on-barge shuttle service operated by SEACOR AMH between New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Memphis, and to launch a new container-on-barge shuttle service on the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC) in New Orleans. ### Print Email Tweet Next Article Previous Article 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
