This is a step forward for US energy independence and is a boon for the Louisiana economy,” said Dr. Cassidy.   LCM is $3.8 billion project to build a clean energy refinery near the Port of Lake Charles in Lake Charles, LA that will create 1,500 jobs, including 300 oil industry jobs and increase domestic oil production by 12,500 barrels per day.   The advanced technology used at LCM will protect the environment by refining petcoke rather than directly burning it and by using a closed refining system that avoids harmful emission.   Dr. Cassidy has continuously supported increased domestic energy production and earlier this year, introduced the American Energy and Conservation Act of 2016.
