We know the same amount of money has a greater impact if it comes sooner rather than later,” Dr. Cassidy said. "I am sorry that those with other agendas refuse to see that - but federal help is coming. We will continue to match the pace at which Louisiana received money after Hurricane Katrina.”  The Senate is expected to call another vote on the CR later this week. Cassidy has been leading the effort to receive federal aid for the state and last week spoke on the floor about the needs of Louisiana. Read the release and watch the speech here.   Background: Senate Democrats have been obstructing the passage of the CR, which includes crucial funding to combat the Zika virus, provide flood relief and address our nation’s opioid epidemic. Democrats claim to be fighting for Flint funding, but Flint aid should pass in a separate water projects bill, which passed the Senate in a 95-3 vote on Sept. 15.  Print Email Tweet Next Article Previous Article 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
