The House and Senate must now reach an agreement on a final bill. I do not think short-term extensions are the best policy, but this extension is preferable to bringing highway construction projects to an abrupt halt.” The Senate amended a House-passed measure (HR.5021) that would extend the Highway Trust Fund through May 31, 2015. As a result of the Senate modifications, the two houses of Congress must now reach consensus on a final bill. The U.S. Department of Transportation has indicated that Highway Trust Fund is set to become insolvent in early August, requiring it to begin cutting road payments to states. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
