U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) today issued the following statement critical of President Obamas decision to disapprove the Keystone XL pipeline after almost seven years of deliberations:The Keystone XL pipeline would have created jobs and increased American energy security. Both should be priorities of any administration, which makes President Obamas decision to deny this project all the more disappointing. After almost seven years of deliberations and with broad bipartisan and public support for the pipeline, the Presidents decision to reject this project is the wrong one for the American economy. Cochran is an original cosponsor of the Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act (S.1), which was approved by the Senate and House with strong bipartisan support. Obama vetoed that measure in March. ### | 1 | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z | 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z |
