This funding will allow for long overdue replacements and upgrades to Freeport’s wastewater treatment plant and collection system. “Proper wastewater infrastructure is critical for the health of all Americans. These upgrades to equipment—some of which is nearly half a century old—are sorely needed to alleviate sanitary concerns,” said Senators Collins and King and Representative Pingree. “This investment will help the city to meet higher water quality and safety standards, support future economic development, and better ensure the well-being of Freeport residents for years to come."
