Senator Collins is a senior member of the Appropriations Committee and the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. Arleigh Burke-class destroyers are the workhorses of the Navy, defending our national security and protecting our interests around the globe, said Senator Collins. This funding will allow BIW's engineers, designers, and planners to continue providing technical expertise to the Navy and strengthen Maine's economy. The hardworking and highly skilled men and women at Bath Iron Works build the world's highest quality ships, and I will always fight to ensure they have the resources they need. This funding is a cost-plus-award-fee modification to a previously awarded contract for planning yard services. Under the contract BIW will provide expert design, planning and material support services for both maintenance and modernization of DDGs. ### 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
