U.S. Senator Susan Collins, the Chairman of the Housing Appropriations Subcommittee, announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded a total of $729,161to the Portland and Brunswick publichousing agenciesto support affordable housing and bolster COVID-19 prevention and response efforts.Thisfunding was awarded througha provision of the CARES Act that Senator Collins authoredthat directed $48.5 billion to support housing and transportation programs. As we continue to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, additional resources are vital to help bolster Maine's housing programs that serve our seniors, individuals with disabilities, and low-income families,said Senator Collins. As the Chairman of the Housing Appropriations Subcommittee, I worked hard to secure these vital resources for Maine's communities, and I will continue to ensure they receive assistance during this difficult time. The funding will be allocated as follows: The Portland Housing Authority will receive 628,272. The Brunswick Housing Authority will receive $100,889.
