The group visited our nation's capital for the Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) National Student Leadership Academy, which allows students from across the country to travel to Washington, D.C., to strengthen their academic, public speaking, and leadership skills to enhance their employment and career advancement opportunities. Monique and Cheyenne are the only students from Maine participating in the conference. It is inspiring to meet driven student leaders like Monique and Cheyenne, from my hometown of Caribou, who are in Washington, D.C., representing Jobs for Maine's Graduates at the National Student Leadership Academy,said Senator Collins. Jobs for Maine's Graduates plays a vital role in our public schools by providing Maine students with the resources, skills, and knowledge they need as they enter the workforce and pursue their goals. JAG is a state-based national non-profit organization dedicated to preventing dropouts among young people who are most at-risk. JAG operates in 34 states, including Maine. The Maine affiliate, JMG, was launched in 1993 by the Maine Legislature as a dropout prevention partnership. The organization runs programs in schools to support at-risk students' transition from middle to high school and on to higher education and into careers.
