Former Maine State Grange President Rick Grotton of Monmouth presented the award to Senator Collins at the National Grange’s 150th birthday celebration in Washington, D.C. “I was honored to be recognized as a Champion of Rural America by the National Grange," said Senator Collins. "For 150 years, Grange has worked to promote public policy that recognizes the unique needs and strengths of rural America, and I am proud to join the organization’s nearly 5,000 Maine members in this effort. As their motto states, the Grange stands on a foundation of unity, liberty, and charity. With those qualities as our guide, we can build a new and vibrant economy for rural America.” Maine has more than 100 Grange Halls that serve as centers of community life.
