The event celebrated Reeds Brook’s recent designation by the U.S. Department of Education. “To be named a Blue Ribbon School is a tremendous honor. I am so impressed by how hard everyone works at Reeds Brook in the classroom and in extra activities like sports, music, and the arts,” said Senator Collins. “In addition to excellence in the classroom and in school activities, Reeds Brook has a wonderful tradition of serving your community.” Darci Greenacre, an alumna of Reeds Brook and a member of Senator Collins’ staff, introduced Senator Collins at the celebration. “I am especially happy to be here with Darci, an outstanding member of my staff in Washington and a 2002 graduate of Reeds Brook,” Senator Collins continued. “When I learned about all of the great things you do to become a Blue Ribbon School, I told Darci that now I know why she’s so good at her job serving the people of Maine and of our country.” Reeds Brook Middle School’s Blue Ribbon designation recognizes the school's high learning standards and progress towards closing achievement gaps. Out of nearly 130,000 schools in America, Reeds Brook is one of just 329 to achieve this award this year. Following her remarks, Senator Collins presented a copy of the statement she entered into the Congressional Record commending the Reeds Brook Middle School community on its Blue Ribbon designation, which she hoped, “will remind you how proud Maine is of you and inspire students in the years to come.” 1 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z 2026-03-30T12:14:52Z
